I thought you would all like this video as keeping our environment clean is an issue most Ngatimoti School students are passionate about. Boyan Slat is no different to any of you. He had an idea and a passion for cleaning our oceans and has worked really hard to make his dream a reality. You can all make a difference to our world just like Boyan is doing.

Insulation and Science

The test

Caleb, Oscar, Pipiri and Harry test out the different insulation in icy water that is only 2 degrees celsius  in temperature. Brrrrrrr!

Animal fat provides excellent insulation against the cold. Must be why animals such as walrus and seals have lots of blubber. Wouldn't want to insulate your house with it though!!

Which insulation is the most effective?

Resurrection!!!

One day Mr and Miss Blue had a son called Fred. Fred was a realy good reader like his older brother Georgie but he died when Fred was a baby. Mr and Miss Blue are sad still. Was it a murder? They will never know. One day an old man came to their doorstep and said they had found the body of their son...

He was found in a cellar of an old man who died years ago..

14 years later... The Son Fred started asking questions. They said it was a murder of an old man called Zack! Fred was destined to see his brother so he asked if he could see the coffin of his brother. Mr and Mrs Blue stared at Fred amazed, but they did let him. They took him there the next day. He was in his coffin breathing. They shocked him back to life. They were so happy but....

2 years later the son was gone!! He  died on the spot. He had blood down his back and a knife next to him. He was gone.

milk in school

I loving having milk in school.

Having milk in school motivates me to do all my work so I can have a refreshing drink to cool me down. Milk is full of calcium which is good for your teeth. For example my little sister has bad teeth but she is getting better at drinking milk because she knows that it is good for her.

Milk strengthens your bones and gives you lots of energy.
Normally I don't get enough sleep so I drink lots of milk to give me lots of energy.

I enjoy having milk in school.

SLACKLINE INSPIRATION

Room 3 and Room 1 bought a slackline with their class money this term. It is very popular at break times and it is great to see kids helping each other and persevering. Here is a link to some slackline inspiration. Enjoy!https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EzdqBKRMM-M

Ashton in Oz

Hi there everybody. It's Ashton here from Oz. I am having a good time here. I have done a lot of things so far. I have been to an Aussie Rules Football game - I even got to meet the players who signed my top and Payton's.

I went to the aquarium to see a very big crocodile. Scary stuff.

I have also done some exercise with dad. Yesterday I ran in a 5 kilometre race with Eli. Here are some pictures of my trip so far.
 Just about finished my race.

Spiderman and me at the end of the race.

Scary Crocodile

SUSTAINABLE COASTLINES

We were lucky enough to have a visit from Oliver who is part of Sustainable Coastlines. He showed us some pretty shocking photographs of litter they had found on beaches around the world . Some of the photos were of dead wildlife whose stomachs were full of plastic rubbish. Oliver and his friends are doing a fantastic job of cleaning up beaches all around the world.  As people living next to a main river which flows into the sea, we can help too! The message is simple...If you see rubbish on the ground, pick it up! Every little bit counts. Here is a link to the Sustainable Coastlines website for more information.http://sustainablecoastlines.org

Bananas like a rowboat striving to reach the top of the waves.

Cherries like two red googly eyes staring back at you.

Pineapples like naughty glow in the dark ghosts that wear crazy fluro hats.

Solar Energy

This is my solar model. I made it out of cardboard. First the sun’s rays travel from the sun to the solar panel. From the solar panels the electricity goes to the inverter to turn the DC electricity into AC electricity .The person can use the electricity in lots of different ways such as on her i pad and her television.
